YOUTH ART CLASS

This spring, we’re inviting our young artists to Bloom Big.

This three-week series is a celebration of all the creativity, curiosity, and skills students have been building in our youth programs this year. Inspired by flowers, plant life, and the natural world, artists will work together to create a vibrant community art installation that will remain on display in The Sheboygan Collective throughout the summer.

Throughout the series, students will explore a variety of materials including watercolor, oil pastels, cardboard sculpture, and mixed media as they experiment with color, shape, texture, and scale. Each young artist will contribute their own unique pieces while also helping build a larger collaborative environment that transforms our studio into a blooming creative space.

As always, our youth classes focus on process-based art, encouraging experimentation, imagination, and confidence in creative decision-making. Artists will have opportunities to work both independently and collaboratively while learning how their ideas can become part of something bigger.

MEET OUR EDUCATORS

  • Youth Educator
Kasie helped develop the Mini Makers program and all of our summer camps at The Sheboygan Collective. A lifelong artist, Kasie has always seen art as a way to explore and express the world around her. Inspired by books like Cassie’s Magic Flowers and James and the Giant Peach, her imagination finds beauty in the unexpected and splendor in everyday moments.

Her creative practice spans painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, and more—guided by emotion and energy rather than medium. Kasie’s passion is helping others see the world in a new way and encouraging kids and adults alike to express themselves fully through art.

  • Youth Educator
Lola Jakimczyk is a Sheboygan-based muralist whose vibrant, imaginative work can be seen throughout the community—including at Sunday Dough and Above & Beyond Children’s Museum. With a deep love for public art and playful color, Lola brings creativity, warmth, and positivity to everything she does.

As a returning mentor from our youth art camps, Lola brings experience, patience, and encouragement to the studio, helping young artists feel seen, supported, and inspired to create boldly.

  • Youth Educator
Whitney Morales is the founder of The Sheboygan Collective and the creative force behind its youth art program. With a passion for building community through creativity, Whitney designed and taught the program in its inaugural year, laying the foundation for a space where young artists can explore, experiment, and grow.

A watercolor artist and family photographer, Whitney brings a unique perspective to teaching—encouraging children to see beauty in everyday moments and to express themselves freely through art. Her approach blends technique with imagination, fostering both skill and confidence in her students.

Whether in the classroom, behind the camera, or with a paintbrush in hand, Whitney is dedicated to cultivating joy, curiosity, and connection through the arts.

FAQ

  • At The Sheboygan Collective, we approach youth art a little differently—and intentionally so. Our classes are rooted in process-based art, which means we focus on creativity, exploration, and expression, rather than perfect end results.

Here, young artists are encouraged to take creative risks, follow their own ideas, and make art that’s meaningful to them. There are no step-by-step instructions or pressure to recreate a sample—just a welcoming space where imagination leads the way.

We believe art should be playful, open-ended, and joyful—because that’s where confidence grows, and where the most powerful learning happens.
